If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ll notice some big changes the next time you visit. In spring 2026 we completed the most ambitious renovation in Selsey Beach House’s history: extending the ground floor, adding a first-floor sea-view terrace, and refurbishing the house from top to bottom. The Beach House was originally built on the footprint of an old fisherman’s cottage using locally sourced and reclaimed materials, and this renovation was about keeping that character while bringing everything else right up to date. Here’s a look at what we’ve done, and the brilliant team who made it happen.

Designed by Jorges Salman Architects
The project was designed and led by Jorges Salman Architects, who were appointed to extend and modernise the property while making the most of its greatest asset: uninterrupted views across the sea to the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth from the edge of West Beach, Selsey.
Their design added a new ground-floor extension with a first-floor terrace above, so the bedrooms upstairs now open onto their own panoramic sea views. Downstairs, the open-plan kitchen and dining area flows straight out to the pool, garden and beach beyond. The design also increased the house’s sustainability, with on-site renewable energy generation built into the scheme. You can see the full project on the JSA portfolio page for Selsey Beach House.

Built by Linkfern Ltd
Turning those drawings into reality, on a seafront site and in all weathers, took a builder we could trust. The construction was completed by Linkfern Ltd, a development and construction firm approved by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and TrustMark registered, who specialise in sustainable, high-quality building projects.
Linkfern managed the build from concept to completion: the extension and terrace, the new kitchens and bathrooms, the ground-floor wet room, the expanded games room and the renewable energy upgrades. The craftsmanship throughout, from the granite-topped kitchen island to the marble-tiled en-suites, speaks for itself, and we couldn’t have asked for a smoother process.

A Luxury Outdoor Sauna by Wellness One
The centrepiece of the new garden spa is our outdoor sauna, designed and supplied by Wellness One. It’s positioned so the panoramic window looks straight out over the swimming pool to the sea, giving it quite possibly the best sauna view on the south coast.

Wellness One build their saunas for genuine year-round use in the UK climate, with fully insulated SIP construction, double-glazed glass and a thermo-aspen timber interior, so it’s just as inviting on a frosty winter evening as after a summer swim. Paired with the hot tub (heated to 40°C all year) and the new outdoor shower, it turns the walled garden into a private spa with gated access straight onto the beach via steps or a slipway.
What Else Is New at the Beach House
- Two new kitchens: fully renovated with granite worktops, a large island and a range cooker for baking; three dishwashers make self-catering for big groups a breeze.
- Luxury bathrooms: refurbished throughout, including a freestanding tub, marble tiling and sea-facing en-suites.
- Improved accessibility: a ground-floor double bedroom with en-suite and new wet room, wheelchair access and two electric adjustable beds, for guests with reduced mobility or anyone wishing to avoid stairs.
- Bigger games room: the annex games room has been expanded, with its own kitchen, a pool table, table football, darts, retro arcade machines and a lounge area.
- Practical touches: a fully equipped utility room with multiple washing machines and dryers, plus a Tesla-compatible EV charging point on the driveway.
